Les eaux de piscine sont en général recyclées après avoir subi un traitement de régénération, au contraire des eaux de baignade qui sont essentiellement des eaux courantes constamment renouvelées. L'équipement et l'exploitation des piscines sont soumis à une réglementation spéciale. L'eau doit être non seulement désinfectée mais encore désinfectante; elle ne doit pas irriter les muqueuses. Elle doit être parfaitement limpide.
